Spotify has launched a new Running Mode feature for its iOS app, available to Premium subscribers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. This update aims to enhance the workout experience for users in these countries who use iPhones.
Premium subscribers in the supported countries can access Running Mode through the Fitness Hub on the Spotify iOS app. The feature offers 25 curated running playlists, each designed to suit different workout preferences. Users can customize playlists based on workout type, duration, beats per minute, and preferred music genre.
Once users select and play a playlist, Spotify automatically tailors the music to match the workout. The playlists transition smoothly between tracks, providing a continuous and motivating soundtrack for runners. Spotify states that this seamless experience helps maintain workout momentum.
Running Mode includes optional audio cues in English. These cues guide users through their workouts, offering support and motivation without interrupting the music. Spotify describes these prompts as similar to having a supportive friend running alongside, providing timely encouragement.
Spotify developed Running Mode in response to user demand for more personalized workout experiences. The company notes that fitness-based prompts have been among the most popular features for its users. This feedback led to the creation of Running Mode, aiming to deliver a tailored and engaging running experience.
