Apple has increased subscription prices for its Apple Music and Apple One services in India and several other regions. The company attributes the price hike to rising music licensing costs. The new prices are already in effect and impact Individual, Family, and Student plans. Apple has also raised prices in the US, the UK, Europe, and other markets.
The largest changes affect Apple Music subscribers in India. The Individual plan now costs Rs 139 per month, up from Rs 119. The Family plan has seen the steepest increase, rising from Rs 179 to Rs 229 per month. The Student plan now costs Rs 69 per month, compared to Rs 59 previously. These revised prices are already reflected on Apple's official website.
Apple states that the increased prices are due to higher music licensing expenses. There are no new features or benefits included with the updated pricing. The Individual plan at Rs 139 per month provides a single user with access to over 100 million songs, ad-free listening, offline downloads, Spatial Audio, Lossless Audio, curated playlists, Apple Music Classical, and compatibility across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phones, Windows PCs, and supported smart TVs.
The Family plan, now priced at Rs 229 per month, includes all features of the Individual plan. It allows up to six family members to use Apple Music through Family Sharing. Each member receives a personal music library, recommendations, and playlists.
The Student plan, available for Rs 69 per month, is offered to verified college and university students. It includes all Individual plan features and also bundles Apple TV+ at no extra cost, making it the most affordable option for eligible students.
Apple has also raised prices for its Apple One bundles in India. The Individual plan now costs Rs 195 per month, up from Rs 175. The Family plan has increased from Rs 235 to Rs 295 per month. The Premier plan now costs Rs 995, compared to Rs 899 previously. Apple One bundles combine services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple News+ where available, depending on the plan.
Apple is not alone in raising subscription prices for streaming services. Earlier this year, Spotify also increased its subscription rates in several markets, including the US, affecting both Individual and Family plans.
