Samsung is preparing to launch its next foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, in July. Industry sources suggest the devices may debut on July 22. The Z Fold 8 is expected to receive significant upgrades, while the Z Flip 8 may see only minor improvements.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is likely to maintain the 8-inch inner display and 6.5-inch cover screen, both supporting up to 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is expected to reach 2600 nits. A new dual-layer Ultra Thin Glass structure and a redesigned support plate may provide a creaseless display experience.
Performance improvements are anticipated with the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, replacing the previous generation processor. Samsung may introduce a vapor chamber cooling system to enhance thermal management. The device is expected to offer up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, similar to its predecessor.
The battery capacity is set to increase to 5,000mAh, up from 4,400mAh on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Z Fold 8 may also support faster 45W charging. On the software side, the device is expected to ship with a newer version of One UI based on Android 17. Samsung’s long-term update policy will likely apply to both new models.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may retain the 200MP primary camera sensor but could upgrade its secondary sensors. Leaks indicate the ultrawide camera may increase from 12MP to 50MP. Details about the front camera remain unclear at this stage.
S Pen support, which was absent on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is expected to return with the Fold 8. This addition could enhance productivity features for users who rely on stylus input.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is projected to launch in India with a starting price of around Rs 1,74,999 for the base model. Higher storage variants may cost up to Rs 2,16,999. The previous model, Galaxy Z Fold 7, is currently available at reduced prices due to ongoing discounts.
Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices are expected to draw significant attention, especially with the anticipated improvements in display, performance, battery, and camera technology.
