Sony has unveiled the Xperia 10 VIII, its latest midrange smartphone, with only minor changes from the previous model. The new device retains much of the hardware and design seen in last year's version, offering incremental improvements rather than a major overhaul.
The Xperia 10 VIII features a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Sony states that the screen is 50% brighter than before, though the company has not disclosed the exact maximum brightness. The phone keeps the familiar top and bottom bezels, which house front-firing stereo speakers. According to Sony, these speakers are now 30% stronger compared to the previous model.
The device continues to use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can still expand storage with a microSD card, a feature that has become rare among modern smartphones. The Xperia 10 VIII also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, allowing users to connect wired headphones without an adapter.
On the back, the Xperia 10 VIII carries over the same dual camera setup as last year. It includes a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. The battery capacity remains unchanged at 5,000 mAh, supporting 30W fast charging.
The Xperia 10 VIII ships with Android 16, featuring Sony’s near-stock user interface. Sony promises up to four major operating system updates for this device. The phone will be available in three colors: Frozen White, Frosted Grey, and Misty Lilac. Sony has not yet announced an exact release date, but the Xperia 10 VIII is expected to launch between mid and late September.
