The vulnerabilities in ChromeOS could be exploited by cybercriminals, enabling them to access users' personal information and execute arbitrary code. Additionally, these flaws could lead to issues such as Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks on the system. CERT has advised ChromeOS users to promptly address this situation by taking immediate action.
The security flaw has been identified in versions of Google ChromeOS prior to 15393.48.0 (platform version: 113.0.5672.114). The flaw is attributed to use-after-free errors and memory corruption. Cyber attackers could potentially trick users into visiting websites containing malware, thereby gaining control over their personal information.
To mitigate these risks, users must install the new update specifically addressing the security flaw in older versions of ChromeOS. The new update removes these security flaws from the stable version. It is strongly recommended that all ChromeOS users update their devices accordingly.
