The advent of the internet and mobile technology has revolutionized our lives, becoming an indispensable part of our daily routines. As we transition from 4G to 5G, India has made significant progress in mobile manufacturing and internet usage. However, in terms of internet speed, countries like Norway, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar outperform India.
Norway leads the pack with an average mobile internet speed of 126.94 Mbps, followed closely by the UAE with 126.85 Mbps and Qatar with 124.28 Mbps as of September 2022. China, the Netherlands, and Denmark also feature in the top rankings. Kuwait secures the tenth position with an average mobile internet speed of 95.04 Mbps. Norway has consistently topped the list for several years, even achieving 52.6 Mbps back in 2017.
Moving on to fixed broadband connections, Chile takes the lead with an average connection speed of 212.98 Mbps, slightly surpassing Singapore's 211.36 Mbps, which secures the second spot.
Looking to the future, 5G is set to deliver faster mobile internet speeds in countries with broadband infrastructure. For instance, in Saudi Arabia, the average speed of a 4G connection is 28.9 Mbps, while a 5G connection reaches a remarkable 414.2 Mbps. With 5G already in commercial use, researchers are already exploring the potential of 6G. Operating on higher spectrum bands, 6G will provide even faster connections, potentially reaching data rates of 1,000 Mbps compared to the 100 Mbps experienced by 5G users. Additionally, 6G aims to accommodate a greater number of connected devices with its ten times higher connection density compared to 5G.
As technology continues to advance, we can expect faster and more efficient internet connectivity, enabling a wide range of innovative applications and enhancing our digital experiences.
