Apple is preparing to release new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini models later this year. This marks the first major update for these devices in several years. The current HomePod mini launched in 2020, and the latest Apple TV 4K was released in 2022.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has completed the hardware for both products. Employees are already testing the devices internally. However, Apple delayed their launch to coordinate with the debut of its next-generation Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence.
The new Siri experience is expected to be introduced on June 9. If Apple’s software plans remain on schedule, the updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini could launch in the second half of 2026. A September release would align with the public rollout of the updated Siri and other major software updates.
Apple is expected to improve the internal components of both devices. However, users should not expect significant design changes. The current Apple TV 4K uses the A15 Bionic chip. The upcoming model is rumored to feature the A17 Pro processor, which would support Apple Intelligence features and offer better performance.
The new Apple TV 4K may also include Apple’s in-house networking chip. This chip could support newer connectivity standards, such as Wi-Fi 7.
The HomePod mini is also due for a hardware update. It is expected to move from the S5 chip to a newer S9 processor or a more advanced version. However, it is not yet clear how Apple will deliver advanced AI-powered Siri features on the compact speaker.
Reports indicate that the Apple TV 4K will likely keep a design similar to the current generation. The Siri Remote could receive a minor update with the new Apple TV 4K. Apple may introduce small changes to the accessory alongside the device launch.
Apple delayed these refreshes for several months. The company wanted to launch them together with its more personalized Siri experience. Apple has faced several setbacks in bringing its next-generation voice assistant to market, which affected the timeline for related products.
Apple is also rumored to be working on an updated full-sized HomePod and a dedicated smart home hub. These products are believed to be part of Apple’s broader strategy for AI and Siri integration.
Apple recently announced the dates for its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. The event is expected to showcase the new Siri, iOS 27, and other major updates. Apple is focusing on significant AI upgrades and smarter Siri features in iOS 27, with more details expected at WWDC.
