WhatsApp Plus, Meta's premium subscription tier, is now being tested with a select group of iOS users. The service was previously available only to a limited number of Android users during early testing last month. WhatsApp Plus aims to enhance the messaging experience with additional customization and interface features.
WhatsApp Plus is an optional monthly subscription plan. It offers users more ways to personalize the app, including custom themes, premium stickers, extra chat pinning options, and exclusive app icons. The premium plan does not change the core messaging experience. Users who do not subscribe can still access standard chats, calls, and other regular features without restrictions.
Currently, WhatsApp Plus is only being tested for WhatsApp Messenger. It is not available for WhatsApp Business users at this stage. According to WABetaInfo, the premium plan includes six major features designed to enhance user experience.
Subscribers can choose from 18 different colour themes to personalize the app interface. These themes range from shades like Royal Purple and Deep Navy to tones such as Forest Green and Crimson Red. The selected theme applies across the entire app.
WhatsApp Plus also introduces 14 alternative app icons. These include outlined designs, black-and-white icons, and decorative effects. Premium users gain access to exclusive sticker packs with animated overlay effects. Non-subscribers can still view these stickers when they are shared in chats.
Currently, WhatsApp allows users to pin up to three chats. With WhatsApp Plus, subscribers can reportedly pin up to 20 conversations at the top of the Chats tab. The premium plan may also offer bulk chat management tools. For instance, users can apply the same chat theme, ringtone, or notification tone across their entire chat list.
Subscribers are expected to receive 10 exclusive ringtones, including options such as Flutter, Tempo, and Ripple. These features are designed to give users more control over their app experience.
Pricing for WhatsApp Plus varies by region. In Europe, the subscription costs Euro 2.49 (about Rs 279) per month. In Pakistan, it is priced at PKR 229 (around Rs 77). In Mexico, the cost is $29 (approximately Rs 159.50 to Rs 161). WhatsApp is reportedly testing free trial periods for some users. The subscription renews automatically every month unless cancelled manually through the App Store or platform billing settings.
