The new "Flex In & Out" display technology, created by Samsung Display—screen Samsung's manufacturing subsidiary—can spin a complete 360 degrees, enabling both inside and outward folding, according to The Verge.
The hinge on the latest generation of Galaxy Z series phones allows for a maximum 180-degree rotation and only inward folding. However, it now appears that Samsung's Galaxy Z series will move in a new direction as a result of the new display technology.

Samsung has unveiled a new hinge design for its folding phone display that promises an almost imperceptible wrinkle, despite the fact that the company's screens have garnered positive reviews overall. The "water-drop hinge," according to The Verge, enables a more flexible display by simulating the shape of a droplet when folded inward, relieving stress on the screen.
The 'Flex In & Out' prototype technology from Samsung Display was previously displayed at IMID 2021 in South Korea, but it folded into a 'S' form with many pieces.
Samsung’s next generation of foldables are expected to come in August 2023. If the technology is mature enough, we can expect this to come with the next iterations of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4.
