During the meeting, discussions revolved around the Tata group's extensive plans for electronics manufacturing and explored potential short-term and long-term partnerships with Apple. However, there is some uncertainty surrounding Wistron's ability to complete its manufacturing obligations at the Bengaluru plant. Sources indicate that Wistron intends to terminate its partnership with Apple in India and shift its focus to other business ventures. It is speculated that Wistron will not continue its collaboration with Apple in India but will instead work with another company. Reports also suggest that Tata group executives are already involved in the operations at the Wistron plant.
The Tata group is reportedly planning to manufacture certain models of the upcoming iPhone 15 series in India. It is anticipated that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, scheduled for release in September this year, could be produced in India. Notably, Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn recently acquired land on the outskirts of Bengaluru. As a major Apple supplier, Foxconn has expressed its intent to expand production beyond China. In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, Foxconn disclosed the acquisition of 1.2 million square meters (1.3 million square feet) of land, with a payment of $37 million (approximately 303 crore 73 lakh 63 thousand 300 rupees) made for the land acquisition.
