With the goal of expanding its manufacturing footprint in India, Apple plans to develop the iPhone 17 there by the second half of 2021. With the expectation that Chinese production will fall by 2024, this move is a part of Apple's shift in production strategy. This illustrates how dedicated the company is to switching up the places where it produces.

According to Kuo's Medium post, Apple's Foxconn is planning to cut production in China by roughly 45% in Zhengzhou and 85% in Taiyuan. India is becoming a more significant hub for production, accounting for 14% of all iPhones sold worldwide (including the iPhone 15), with that percentage predicted to rise to 20–25% by 2024.

Apple's iPhone 17 is set to be the first model evolved outside of China, with the new product introduction( NPI) process starting in India in late 2024. The global debut is awaited in the alternate half of 2025, demonstrating Apple's commitment to diversifying its development and manufacturing locations.

Taiwan's Wistron has given its approval to sell Tata Electronics its 100% indirect ownership of Wistron InfoComm Manufacturing for an estimated $125 million. This marks a significant milestone in India's tech landscape, as Tata becomes the first Indian company to assemble Apple's iPhone models within the country, highlighting India's growing global tech manufacturing role.

In order to assure that it continues to grow over the coming ten times and to fortify its ties with the Indian government, Apple has hired Tata as an assembly mate for smartphones in India. This cooperation, along with Pegatron and Foxconn, would enable the product of iPhone models in India, which is a big step forward for Apple's plan to increase its manufacturing capacity.
