Let's compare the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 13, and see where they stand in the world of high-end smartphones. So, before you throw away your iPhone 12 model, let's read this article.

Display of iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13

Both the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 have a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology and a resolution of 2532 x 1770. This corresponds to 460 pixels per inch. The maximum brightness of the display on the iPhone 13 is 800 nits, up from 625 nits on the iPhone 12. Because of universal HDR support, the displays' maximum brightness is the same at 1200 nits.

The main difference is a change in thickness (the iPhone 13 is slightly denser at 7.65mm rather than 7.4mm) and a color change (the iPhone 13 comes in a varied range of red, pink, blue, midnight, and starlight).

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 do not have a ProMotion display, unlike the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Instead, you'll get a refresh rate of 60Hz. Apple's ProMotion display technology, which is exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro, brings adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz to the iPhone for the first time.

This means that depending on what you're doing on your device, the refresh rate of the iPhone 13 Pro's screen can range between 10Hz and 120Hz.

At first glance, the iPhone 13 does not appear to be significantly different from the iPhone 12.

However, when it comes to screen display, the differences between the iPhone 12 and 13 become more apparent. Primarily, the iPhone 13 has a brightness that is up to 28% brighter than the iPhone 12, making it easier to view the content on your screen in any environment.

The notch for Face ID on the iPhone 13 is also slightly smaller, giving you more screen display to work with.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro also have the following display features:

  1. Contrast ratio of 2,000,000:
  2. Display of True Tone
  3. Color gamut is broad (P3)
  4. Haptic Touch
  5. Display with HDR

Design of iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

In terms of design, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are very similar. Both devices have flat edges, similar to the iPad Pro, a nearly edge-to-edge display, and Face ID support. The back has a glossy finish in the color of your choice.

In terms of Face ID, the notch cutout that houses the Face ID sensors on the iPhone 13 is slightly smaller than on the iPhone 12. According to Apple, the iPhone 13 notch is approximately 20% narrower in width but slightly taller in height. This is a very minor change in real-world use, and Apple has made no changes to the iOS experience to take advantage of the slight increase in usable screen space.

To accommodate a larger battery, the iPhone 13 is slightly thicker and heavier than the iPhone 12.

Dimensions of the iPhone

  1. Height: 5.78 inches (146.7 mm)
  2. Width: 2.82 inches (71.5 mm)
  3. Depth: 0.29 inch (7.4 mm)
  4. Weight: 5.78 ounces (164 grams)
  5. Dimensions of the iPhone 13:
  6. Height: 5.78 inches (146.7 mm)
  7. Width: 2.82 inches (71.5 mm)
  8. Depth: 0.30 inch (7.65 mm)
  9. Weight: 6.14 ounces (174 grams)

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are made of "aero-grade aluminum," according to Apple, and have a Ceramic Shield front to protect the display. Both phones are water resistant for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 6 meters.

The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are both IP68 splash, water, and dust resistant. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro can withstand a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes under this rating.

Performance and battery of iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

The iPhone 12 is powered by Apple's A14 Bionic processor, whereas the iPhone 13 is powered by the most recent and powerful A15 Bionic chip. Both devices include 4GB of RAM.

The A14 and A15 Bionic chips both have 6-core CPUs with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. Both include a 4-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. A new 16-core Neural Engine powers machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks on the A15 Bionic processor.

Apple hasn't said how much faster the A15 Bionic is than the A14 Bionic, but GeekBench results show a slight increase in CPU performance year over year.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro differ in that the former has a 4-core GPU while the latter has a 5-core CPU. It remains to be seen what kind of difference this makes in real-world performance, but Apple is making a significant change by segmenting the iPhone 13 lineup in this way for the first time.

Estimated iPhone 13 battery life:

•Audio playback: 75 hours •Audio playback: 75 hours •Up to 19 hours of video playback

iPhone 13 Pro battery estimates:

•Audio playback: 75 hours •Video playback (streamed): Up to 20 hours •Video playback: Up to 22 hours

With a 20W power adapter, both devices support fast charging, allowing for a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. When using a MagSafe wireless charger, there is also support for 7.5W Qi wireless charging and 15W wireless charging.

Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 support fast charging and can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Connectivity of iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

Have you heard about the exciting news about 5G? The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, like their predecessors, have 5G support. According to Apple, this results in "superfast downloads and high-quality streaming." This includes mmWave 5G connectivity in the US, as well as sub-6GHz 5G connectivity in the US and other countries.

CAMERA of iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 cameras have identical specifications. The front and back cameras on both phones have 12-megapixel sensors. But that doesn't tell the whole story about the phones' photo processing differences.

The new camera layout on the iPhone 13 gives the wide-angle camera a larger sensor with sensor-based stabilization. The larger sensor is enabled by the iPhone 13's new diagonal camera layout, while the ultrawide camera's new sensor aids in light gathering. Photographic Styles, which allow you to customize how your camera develops photos, are also included on the iPhone 13. These styles differ from Instagram filters in that they analyze the subject of your photo and apply the appropriate style as needed.

The camera technology is where you'll really notice the differences between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13pro. The iPhone 13 has a dual 12MP camera system on the back, as well as Wide and Ultra Wide cameras. A 12MP f/2.2 aperture selfie camera is located on the front.

Here are the complete camera specifications for the iPhone 13:

•Dual 12MP camera system: •Wide: /1.6 aperture •Wide: /1.6 aperture •Optical zoom out 2x •Up to 5x digital zoom •Portrait mode includes advanced bokeh and Depth Control. •Six Portrait Lighting Effects (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, HighKey Mono •Optical image stabilization via sensor shift (Wide) •Seven‑element lens (Wide); five‑element lens (Ultra Wide) •True Tone flash •Panorama (up to 63MP) •Burst mode •Photo geotagging •Image formats captured: HEIF and JPEG •Sapphire crystal lens cover •100% Focus Pixels (Wide) •Night mode •Deep Fusion •Smart HDR 4 •Photographic Styles •Wide color capture for photos and Live Photos •Lens correction (Ultra Wide) •Advanced red‑eye correction •Auto image stabilization

SPEED VS STORAGE ON THE IPHONE 12 VS iPhone 13

Few things are more aggravating than a slow or lagging mobile device.

Fortunately, the iPhone 13 addresses this by replacing Apple's A14 Bionic processor from the iPhone 12 with a faster 15 Bionic processor. The iPhone 12 was already quite quick, so the 13 is lightning fast.

This will also improve the long-term durability of your device, as apps become increasingly reliant on processor power. A processor that falls short of expectations can make gaming or watching movies on your iPhone more difficult.

Furthermore, the iPhone 13 has made significant storage improvements. The maximum storage capacity in this newer device is 512GB, and if you upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro, you can choose a whopping 1TB of storage. The 256GB limit on the iPhone 12 pales in comparison.

What about the 14-inch iPhone?

As you may have heard, rumors about the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are already circulating. The iPhone 14 lineup is expected to include a new design for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, as well as a new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max.

We're still more than 3 months away from the release of the iPhone 14, so you're perfectly safe to buy a new iPhone 13 today or you can wait for iPhone 14. Purchase a new iPhone if you require one.

CONCLUSION

As you can see, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are very similar in size, form factor, and performance. Having said that, there are some notable differences this year in both the camera and display categories.

Unlike last year, when the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro used the same display technology, the iPhone 13 Pro uses the new ProMotion display technology exclusively. The iPhone 13 Pro also has a better camera setup, including ProRes video recording, a triple-lens design, and more.

But, in the end, the iPhone 13 is sufficient for most people: it can handle virtually any task you throw at it and has a stunning design available in 5 different colors. While not as good as the iPhone 13 Pro's, the camera can still produce stunning images and videos.

People who shoot professional-level videos and can use the ProRes video recording features should consider the iPhone 13 Pro. Those individuals should also choose larger storage capacities.

What are your thoughts on theiPhone 13 vs. the iPhone 12? Is Apple's performance sufficient to justify the RS 72000(approx.) premium for the iPhone 13 Pro? Do you intend to upgrade this year? Please let us know in the comments.
