But what about Apple's plans for the future of their smartphones? According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Chain Consultant, there are some exciting developments in store for iPhone lovers. Young recently tweeted about Apple's future roadmap for their phones, revealing that the company plans to use Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide Display (LTPO) panels in all their models starting from 2025.
Currently, this type of panel is only available in the Pro models. However, if Apple adopts the LTPO display, their base model smartphones will also feature a 120Hz refresh rate. This is an improvement from the current iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro line-up, which already support a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, Young also revealed that the Dynamic Island feature will be available in all models of the iPhone 15 and 16 series.
While the Pro models of the iPhone 15 and 16 will feature LTPO displays, the non-Pro models will continue to use LTPS displays, as per the tweet. But Apple's plans for their future smartphones do not end there. The company is reportedly planning to launch a full-screen smartphone by 2027, with the iPhone 19 Pro and 19 Pro Max being the first to feature a full-screen display. This means that the camera and Face ID will be located inside the display, giving users a seamless and uninterrupted viewing experience.
Before the release of the iPhone 19, however, Apple is expected to introduce under-display Face ID in the iPhone 17, with a punch cut-out for the camera. A similar design is also expected for the iPhone 18 Pro. Overall, it seems that Apple is committed to enhancing their users' experience by offering better and more advanced features, including removing the punch hole and notch display, which can sometimes be distracting. In conclusion, Apple's plans for the future of their smartphones are exciting, and iPhone lovers can look forward to a better, more advanced experience with each new release. With the introduction of LTPO displays, full-screen displays, and under-display Face ID, Apple is pushing the boundaries of what is possible with smartphone technology
