Apple is preparing to launch a new entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip before the end of 2026, according to a recent Bloomberg report. The company also aims to release updated iMac models within the same period. These developments highlight Apple's ongoing efforts to refresh its Mac lineup with advanced processors and new features.

Key Highlights

  • Apple to launch entry-level MacBook Pro with M6 chip before end of 2026.
  • New iMacs with OLED touchscreen and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips expected late 2026 or early 2027.
  • MacBook Neo with A19 Pro chip and periodic color updates planned for next year.

Upcoming MacBook Pro and iMac Releases

The new entry-level MacBook Pro will feature Apple's M6 chip and is expected to arrive before the end of this year. Alongside this, Apple plans to introduce new iMac models. A significant update includes an iMac with an OLED touchscreen, which is anticipated to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. This iMac will use the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, with a release window set between late 2026 and early 2027.

Apple is also testing an Ultra version of its Mac lineup with the M5 Ultra chip. This model is running macOS 27.1, which is scheduled for release at the end of October. As a result, the hardware for the Ultra model will not launch before this software update becomes available.

Future MacBook and Mac Mini Updates

Looking ahead, Apple plans to introduce an updated MacBook Air in early 2027. Later in 2027, a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro with the M7 chip is expected to launch. Additionally, Apple is developing a new MacBook Neo, which will be equipped with the A19 Pro chip. The MacBook Neo will receive periodic color updates, offering more choices for consumers.

Apple is also testing a Mac mini with both the M5 Pro and base M6 chips. Mac Studio models featuring the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips are in development as well. However, the release timing for these devices depends on the availability of memory chips, which could affect their launch schedules.

Long-Term Plans for OLED Displays

Apple is considering a MacBook Air with an OLED screen, which could be introduced as early as 2028. Following this, the company also plans to develop an OLED iMac, further expanding its use of advanced display technology across its Mac lineup.
