Google's first foldable smartphone, rumoured to be called the Pixel Fold, has been part of the rumours for quite some time. The company has yet to confirm its development, but so-called official renders have surfaced online. Renders from YouTube and tipster Front Page Tech (Jon Prosser), who has quite a track record of product leaks, show black and silver colour options for the Pixel Fold. The back also includes a distinctive cutout that houses the triple camera sensor and LED flash.
According to reports, the Google Pixel Fold will be available in May 2023 with prices starting at US$1,799 (around Rs 1.45). The specifications of Google's first foldable smartphone remain unknown, but it will run on Android 13L or Android 12L (Google's custom software for foldable devices). The device is also expected to be powered by the Tensor G2 chip found in the Google Pixel 7 and the 7 Pro. You can also expect the phone to borrow features from Google's flagship Pixel 7 Pro, which may include a True Tone camera, Photos apps may include deblurring tools that sharpen details in blurry photos and super res zoom.
Going back to renderings, the cover screen is likely to offer a wide aspect ratio, unlike the foldable smartphone from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The rendering also shows a cover screen with narrow bezels and a retaining hole for the selfie camera sensor. The round camera module has a distinct ridge and could house the wide, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, similar to the Pixel 7 Pro's rear camera system. At the bottom of the back is the SIM tray and charging. Stores a USB-C port for
The report adds that the Pixel Fold is heavy, but the exact weight remains unknown. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is one of the lightest foldable smartphones at the moment, weighing 263 grams, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, Vivo X Fold and Oppo Find N are 262 grams and 311 grams, respectively 8.5 grams and 275 grams.
