With four models—the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro —Apple debuted the iPhone 15 series in September. The DSCC has reported an exceptional rise in demand for the panels, indicating that the lineup has attracted substantial attention. Demand for Apple's most recent smartphone models has increased significantly, outpacing that of its predecessors, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13, demonstrating a positive and enthusiastic response.

Up to October, the iPhone 15 series' panel shipments were much higher than those of the iPhone 14 series, and its demand surged by 21% when compared to the iPhone 13 range in 2021. This suggests that interest in the iPhone 15 series is increasing, which contributes to its notable commercial success.

The panel distribution of the iPhone 15 Pro models has risen substantially, reaching 71% in October, demonstrating the growing popularity of these models. This increase in demand bolsters Apple's standing as customers' first option and strengthens its dominance in the market for high-end smartphones.

The 256 GB iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at$ 1,199, whereas the 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro Max costs$ 1,099, showing the distinctive price dynamic of the iPhone 15 series. The current iPhone has enhanced features and advancements that may have contributed to its premium status in the request, as seen by the 5% rise in its average selling price.

Suppliers of displays for Apple's iPhone

81% of the panels sent from June to October for the iPhone 15 series were from Samsung Display, Apple's main supplier. This is consistent with Samsung's 82% and 79% market share domination in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 series, respectively. For the last three years, Samsung has been the exclusive supplier for all four iPhone models, demonstrating their long-lasting collaboration in display technology.

For the iPhone 15 Pro Max, LG Display (LGD) and BOE have entered Apple's supply chain, obtaining an 18% and 1% stake, respectively. This diversity in panel suppliers points to Apple's deliberate strategy of assembling a strong and varied supply chain from a number of manufacturers to satisfy the demands of its wide range of products.
