DSCC's Ross Young says Apple will add high-refresh-rate OLED displays to the 13-inch MacBook Air, 11-inch iPad Pro, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro by 2024. That's a big deal for the current entry-level Mac laptop line-up, the MacBook Air. Young hasn't said anything about the OLED panel, which will be featured on MacBook Pro models.
MacBook and iPad with OLED displays coming soon
Young doesn't say much about the displays other than the fact that these devices use dual-stack OLED displays. A two-stack OLED has two layers of RGB pixels, allowing for higher brightness and more efficient power consumption. These OLED panels also allow for better colour reproduction. The MacBook Air's ProMotion OLED panel will allow Apple's entry-level laptop to compete with its counterparts in the Windows universe. It remains to be seen if Apple will make the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 15-inch MacBook Pro OLED.

Earlier this year, Apple released its M2-powered MacBook Air as the successor to its popular M1-powered MacBook Air. The new model has a refreshed design inspired by the 14-inch MacBook Pro. It has a MagSafe connector for charging, freeing up two USB-C ports. Additionally, the MacBook Air M2 also had a larger 13.3-inch IPS LCD display but had to compromise on the display notch to accommodate the 1080p front-facing camera. The new M2 chip promises a slight boost in performance, but battery life remains unchanged at up to 18 hours. Apple also continues to market the M1 MacBook Air as an entry-level laptop.
