Forteen OnePlus devices have been introduced this year, which is 6 more than previous year, according to a quick walkthrough of the company's portfolio. Though it's difficult to foresee how the new strategic collaboration with Oppo will pan out, perhaps next year things will be different. What about the gadgets that it did introduce this year, though? What's hit and what's miss for 2022?
The 10 series from OnePlus was a bit of a mess. Despite considerable hype, the OnePlus 10 does not exist in its pure form, and the Ultra model was never released. The OnePlus 10T, which came after the OnePlus 10 Pro but wasn't quite another flagship device, was instead positioned a notch lower.
Nevertheless, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 engine and some of the fastest charging in the industry, along with a strong battery life, allowed the OnePlus 10T to deliver top performance. Its display has a 120Hz refresh rate and is bright and slick. A good camera setup and dual speakers are also included on the phone.
Fans were turned off by the absence of the OnePlus alert slider, certified IP rating, and wireless charging, but these are limitations that may be tolerated given the price. By itself, its popularity is proof of that.
There is less room for error as you set out to make flagship devices . The OnePlus 10 Pro serves as an example. Although it is the company's current standing flagship offer, it isn't quite as popular or as competitive as the 10T.
The camera setup is arguably the 10 Pro's biggest flaw. Not only were there no appreciable improvements over the 9 Pro, but the ultrawide unit was even downgraded to a smaller sensor without AF and macro capabilities. It introduced the fisheye effect, which is cool, but if we could only have one of those, the 9 Pro's unit would be my choice.
The unfortunate situation surrounding the Oxygen OS's conversion to ColorOS is another issue.
The OnePlus 10 Pro is still a well-rounded phone, and perhaps our assessment of it would have been slightly different if we had only seen it in isolation. But the problem was that it simply overindulged.
There aren't many differences between the OnePlus Nord 2and Nord 2T. However, it barely made enough to be a success in a mid-range segment that was significantly impacted by the supply chain problems.
It features a stylish dual-glass construction, a reliable 90Hz OLED screen, and excellent performance thanks to the Dimensity 1300 chipset. Loud stereo speakers, a strong battery life with quick charging, and a top-notch main camera are additional "pluses." There is also the alert slider.
A great way to draw more users into the ecosystem is by providing less expensive alternatives to your best-selling phones, but you must be cautious about where you cut costs.
Performance-wise, OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G’s 120Hz IPS LCD isn't all that impressive and its high refresh rate is inconsistent. There isn't an ultrawide camera on the back, and there is only one technically functional camera there that doesn't record 4K video. Additionally, the alert slider that we keep mentioning is not present here.
The OnePlus 10R is intended for global release, while the Ace is only available in China. Both models, which come with either a 5,000 mAh battery with 80W charging or a 4,500 mAh one with 150W charging, are very similar to the Realme GT Neo 3.
Other than the fact that the phone's camera is yet another unfortunate downgrade from its predecessor, there isn't much to say about it. Additionally, the OnePlus 10R has a disappointing number of software flaws like stutters and slowdowns. On the plus side, we do enjoy the phone's design. The Dimensity 8100-MAX that powers it and the display are both excellent. Therefore, OnePlus could turn this moderate loss into a moderate win with enough software improvement.
