Poco has officially confirmed the launch date of its next M-series smartphone in India. The Poco M8 5G will make its debut on January 8, with the launch event scheduled for 12:00 pm IST. The smartphone will be available for purchase through Flipkart, where a dedicated microsite has already gone live.
Ahead of the official announcement, Poco has shared multiple teasers revealing the design of the upcoming handset. The Poco M8 5G will feature a dual-tone rear panel that combines a matte finish with vegan leather, giving it a premium look despite being positioned in the mid-range segment.
The phone will come with a centrally aligned, squircle-shaped camera module that houses two camera sensors along with an LED flash. Poco has also confirmed that the handset will be just 7.35mm thick and weigh around 178 grams.
One of the confirmed features of the Poco M8 5G is its 50-megapixel AI-powered primary camera. While details about the secondary camera remain undisclosed, Poco is clearly highlighting photography as a key selling point for the device.
According to leaks and reports, the Poco M8 5G is likely to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 15 5G. If this turns out to be true, the smartphone could sport a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3200 nits. The screen may also come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
In terms of performance, the handset is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It could be offered with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The Poco M8 5G is tipped to pack a 5,520 mAh battery. Fast charging support of up to 45W is expected, along with 18W reverse charging, which would allow users to charge other devices using the phone.
Poco has not revealed any pricing details yet. For reference, the Redmi Note 15 5G starts at around Rs. 30,000 in global markets. However, Poco is known for aggressive pricing in India. The Poco M7 5G, launched earlier this year, debuted at Rs. 9,999, so the M8 5G is expected to be priced competitively.
More details, including official specifications and pricing, will be announced at the launch event next week.
