According to leaks, both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC chipset. The tested model of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has 8 GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has 12 GB of RAM. The scores of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in Geekbench 6 testing were 2,030 and 5,213 points in single and multi tests, respectively, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 scored 2,014 and 5,022 points in the core.
Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy Z lineups will use the same processor, which is an interesting move by the company. Last year, Samsung used a different strategy for its Galaxy S22 series, using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and the improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for the Galaxy Z series.
Previous leaks suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would have an outdoor display similar to the outgoing Galaxy Z Fold 4 model, with a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 23.1:9 aspect ratio, and IPX8 rating. There is no specific information about the external display size of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but it is rumored to be larger than the current model.
According to earlier reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be offered in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants with UFS 4.0 storage. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also expected to be offered in the same storage variant as the current model. An earlier leak suggested that the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 model will have cameras similar to the outgoing model.
