Key Features in the Update

The update introduces several new features, including Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index. These features will debut on the next generation of Galaxy Watches. The Vitals feature analyzes five key overnight bio-signals: heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen. It compares these signals to the user's true resting baseline upon waking and sends notifications only when it detects meaningful deviations. This helps users determine if they may be fighting an illness or simply need more rest.

The Heart Health Score replaces the previous Vascular Load feature. It combines body composition data with sleep, stress, and activity metrics to generate a unified score. This score offers clearer insight into heart health and helps users identify habits that affect long-term well-being. The Daily Cardio Load feature measures accumulated cardiovascular strain, calculates daily load, and determines maximum training capacity. It recommends optimal training targets and rest times, helping users achieve their goals while reducing the risk of burnout or injury.

The Fitness Index analyzes heart rate, VO2 Max, and daily steps. It compares these metrics with those of peers to ensure exercise routines are effective. The feature also identifies physical strengths and weaknesses, delivering tailored content and personalized goals for continuous improvement.

Additional Improvements and Release Details

Samsung has enhanced the AGEs index to automatically capture overnight measurements. This provides a long-term overview of how lifestyle choices affect the body. The Antioxidant Index now offers a clearer view of nutritional intake, using trend charts and daily history logs to visually link dietary choices to physical responses over time.

The update also introduces a new Hearing Health feature. This monitors ambient noise through the Galaxy Watch and provides personalized analytics to help protect users' hearing in noisy environments.

Samsung stated that these advancements preview the future of Samsung Health, which will be fully realized with the launch of the next generation of Galaxy Watches. The company confirmed that multiple new Galaxy Watch models are coming, though it did not specify names or the exact number. Rumors suggest the lineup will include the Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch9 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The official launch is expected on July 22, alongside other devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

The Samsung Health app update will begin rolling out on June 8. However, owners of existing Galaxy Watches will need to wait for access to the new features, as they will first be available on the next-generation Galaxy Watches.
