Xiaomi's next-generation Xiaomi 13 smartphone series has officially been launched. The new series includes two smartphones, the vanilla Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Both devices are powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The duo comes with a Leica camera lens that is also available for the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are similarly based on the design with some tweaks to the camera system. The Xiaomi 13 series is currently on sale in China and will be expanded globally early next year.
The vanilla Xiaomi 13 price in India is expected to start at Rs 47300 (around 3,999 CNY) for the base model with 8GM RAM and 128 GB storage, while the top model with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage starts at 4,999 CNY (around Rs 60,000). The mid-range versions with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage are priced at 4,299 CNY (approximately Rs 51,000) and 4,599 CNY (approximately Rs 54,400) respectively.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro price in India is expected to start from Rs 60000 (around 4,999 CNY) for the base version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage to 6,299 CNY (around Rs 74,500) for the model with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. Xiaomi may bring the Xiaomi 13 series to India at a relatively cheap price.
Starting with the vanilla Xiaomi 13, it has a faux leather finish on the back and a slightly larger 6.36-inch display compared to the Xiaomi 12. The OLED display has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels (Full HD+), a 120 Hz refresh rate (Xiaomi 13 does not come with an Adaptive Refresh Rate), Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG support. The screen has a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, the same as the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
The Leica-powered triple camera system includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), a 10-megapixel OIS-enabled telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor. Up front is a 32MP shooter with full HD video recording capabilities. Other features include Wi-Fi 6e, 5G, Wi-Fi Direct, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and 4500mAh with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The Pro model comes with a better and larger 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro's Leica-equipped camera system is a significant upgrade over its siblings, with three 50-megapixel camera sensors (Wide, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto). The telephoto camera offers 3.2x optical zoom. The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a larger 4820mAh battery that supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, but the connectivity options are pretty much the same as the vanilla model.
Both Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will feature MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
