Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro smartphones in China. The Redmi Note 17 features a larger 8,000mAh battery, a 50-megapixel rear camera, and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. The Note 17 Pro offers a bigger battery, a more advanced processor, and enhanced durability features. Both phones come with several upgrades over previous models.
The Redmi Note 17 is equipped with a 7-inch Full-HD+ OLED display. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It achieves up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness and includes wet touch 2.0 technology for better touch response with wet fingers. The device holds an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
Powering the Note 17 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. The phone offers up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. Security features include an in-display optical fingerprint scanner and face unlock. The device runs on Xiaomi's HyperOS 3, based on Android 16.
The rear camera is a single 50-megapixel sensor, while the front camera is 8 megapixels. The Note 17's 8,000mAh battery is a significant increase from the 5,520mAh battery in the Redmi Note 15. It supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. The phone weighs 225 grams.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro has a 6.83-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. It supports DC dimming down to 80 nits and 3,840Hz PWM dimming, which can lower brightness to 1 nit. This feature helps reduce eye strain in dark environments.
The Note 17 Pro uses a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, an upgrade over the standard model. It comes with 8GB or 12GB RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB. The 128GB version uses UFS 2.2 storage, while the larger variants use UFS 3.1. There is no microSD card slot.
The Pro model has a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera is 8 megapixels, placed in a hole-punch cutout. The 9,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery supports 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.
Durability is enhanced with IP68, IP66, IP69, and IP69K ratings, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the display.
