A prototype of Xiaomi's smartphone was recently leaked online. A prototype hinted at by tipster Kuba Wojciechowski shows a Xiaomi smartphone that can fold outwards. The spotted prototype comes with a Snapdragon 855 with an X50 modem for 5G support. An informant said, "the device was super-secret and very few units made their way into the public." The patent for a foldable handset was first discovered in 2020. Meanwhile, internal testing of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro has reportedly begun in various Asian countries.

You can see how the basic design has been handed down from the patent application to the prototype model. The device houses a total of four camera sensors, an LED flash, and a button on the back for unlocking the screen. There are some photos inside the phone showing the dual battery cell layout, with the larger cell having a capacity of 3,500mAh.

Xiaomi finally went with the fold-in approach with its Mix Fold phone and never looked back. It remains to be seen if OEMs will continue to pursue outward-folding devices.

Meanwhile, the Chinese company is planning to launch the Xiaomi 13 series, and internal testing of the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro has reportedly started in various Asian countries. The Chinese company's smartphone is expected to go on sale in early 2023. The Xiaomi 13 was reportedly recently spotted on the website by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are equipped with a triple rear camera setup along with a hole-punch cut out aligned in the centre of the display to accommodate selfie cameras. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to feature a 6.7 inch E6 LTPO display with 2K resolution while the vanilla Xiaomi 13 will come with a 1080p display.
