Apple has introduced new discounts on select MacBook models in India, weeks after raising prices across its MacBook and iPad lines. The company now offers up to Rs 15,000 off on MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models through specific bank offers. These discounts follow a significant price increase that disappointed many customers. Apple stated it had delayed the hike as long as possible, but rising component costs made it necessary.
The discounts are available only to customers using American Express, Axis Bank, or ICICI Bank cards. The 14-inch MacBook Pro receives a Rs 15,000 discount, but the starting price remains high at Rs 2,39,900 for the M5 chip model. The MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip is priced at Rs 2,99,900, while the M5 Max variant costs Rs 4,99,900. These offers are not flat discounts but are tied to eligible bank card transactions, similar to other Apple sales in India.
For the 13-inch MacBook Air, Apple offers a Rs 9,000 discount when purchased with the same eligible bank cards. The latest MacBook Air with the M5 chip is priced at Rs 1,49,900, and the discount brings the effective price down to Rs 1,40,900. Apple also provides an Education Savings offer, reducing the price to Rs 1,37,900 for students and teachers. Buyers must show valid identification to qualify for the education discount.
It is unclear if these discounts are part of an Independence Day sale, as Apple has not made any official announcement. Other online and offline retailers are expected to host sales around Independence Day. Amazon has already announced a sale starting August 7, but has not specified which Apple devices will be included.
Historically, major online sales have featured significant discounts on Apple products. However, with recent price increases due to higher component costs, including RAM, the scale of discounts this year remains uncertain. Many brands, including Apple, have adjusted prices to reflect increased manufacturing expenses.
Customers considering a purchase may wish to wait for upcoming sales to compare offers. The current bank-linked discounts provide some relief from the recent price hikes, but the overall cost of new MacBook models remains high. Apple continues to update its pricing and promotional strategies in response to market conditions and rising costs.
