There's a reason we think the iPhone 14 Plus is a smart choice. In fact, until the iPhone 15 Plus comes out, there are many reasons why the iPhone 14 Plus is the best iPhone without any major downside.
Apple iPhone 14 Plus Price in India starts from Rs 89900 for a 128 GB model. The iPhone 14 Plus is also available in 256 and 512 GB models. The available colours for the device are Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight and my personal favourite (PRODUCT) RED.
The iPhone 14 Plus is a very expensive device and compared to its Android competitors, the design looks outdated. This might also be a big reason for people opting for the iPhone 14 Pro. Technically, the iPhone 14 Plus has been an all-new phone for a long time, sporting the Pro Max's 6.7-inch display, but Apple has done minimal or almost nothing to the design of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Therefore, it lacks the excitement of a new phone.
Many of my colleagues confused it with iPhone 13. Same angled camera lens, the same flat sides, same old notch - iPhone fans have seen it before. On the "plus" side, this is still a pretty phone. As long as you can't see the notch, this one gets attention It is a large smartphone with a modern look.
That's one of the main reasons to consider the iPhone 14 Plus. It's a 6.7-inch, "Plus" size display with excellent colour calibration and a high-resolution OLED display. Whether in the sun or in your living room, the iPhone 14 Plus display is a pleasure to look at. The colours look natural and the brightness is great.
If you love watching movies and scrolling through Instagram, you'll love this display. refresh rate! The 60Hz refresh rate is fine for everyday use and eventually, you get used to it. But for a phone that costs almost a lakh, it feels unfair. Even the cheapest Android smartphones these days have 120Hz OLED screens.
I'm going to hold a grudge against Apple for offering an outdated chipset for flagship phones, in the name of cost cutting. But once the annoyance of missing out on new stuff is gone, I don't see why I wouldn't choose this iPhone for its performance. Regardless, the A15 Bionic is still a fast chipset. After all, these iPhone 13 Pro models still run strong and do everything well. The iPhone 14 Plus with a 5-core GPU and 6 GB of RAM, with its better A15 Bionic variant, works as advertised.
Apple's strength is its optimization, and iOS 16 on this iPhone runs smoothly aside from a few glitches. The iPhone handled everything I threw at it like a pro, while staying comfortably cold, games like COD Mobile and Apex Legends run at their best.
The new lock screen customization options added with the iOS 16 in addition to the ones already present earlier make iPhones on par with their Android counterparts when it comes to customisation.
I was also impressed with the speaker performance of the iPhone 14 Plus. The audio output is clear and deep enough to enjoy the bass. Next, there's decent network performance. The network connectivity of the iPhone 14 Plus is also great, I tried 5G with Beta software and was blown away by the speeds this phone could manage.
If you need a powerful camera for photos and videos, the iPhone 14 Plus is for you. The 12-megapixel main camera sensor and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera sensor are from the iPhone 13 Pro but are even better thanks to the Photonic Engine. Like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the main camera is tuned to bring colours closer to natural tones, boost brightness, crush shadows and extract details. These photos look great on social media and on mobile phone screens. Everyone I showed the images, to praised the camera of the phone. However, Pixel Peeper noted an overly sharp look and how the Pixel 7 Pro creates contrast and keeps skin tones more natural.
When it comes to videography, there is no competition. Even though it is not the best smartphone for taking videos, that crown goes to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro max, the iPhone 14 Plus dominates every other Android smartphone you compare it with. Both 4K and 1080p videos have excellent clarity, wide dynamic range, excellent noise reduction, excellent stabilization and smooth processing. Cinematic mode is more usable in 4K, and Action mode is useful with excellent stabilization and a usable 2.5 K resolution, but by default, it uses the Ultrawide camera and you have to change it to the primary camera each time.
Apple is not overselling the iPhone 14 Plus by saying it has the best battery life of any iPhone. The iPhone 14 Plus can easily last for two days under medium usage. I even managed the second day with 13% battery life. Even with the large battery, the iPhone 14 Plus only supports fast charging up to 25 W, this might be slow for most people but I personally don't mind it as I usually charge my devices overnight. Apple iPhones also have some really great MagSafe ecosystems for wireless charging.
Most users want a high refresh rate display, triple camera setup, and more unique features- especially at such a high asking price. The iPhone 14 Plus has none of these features. While it lacks all these flashy features, it nails all the important things users need, great battery life, an amazing camera, colour accurate screen and much more.
The iPhone 14 Plus is an amazing smartphone through and through. The experience is extremely refined. To improve your experience, you can also get other products in the Apple ecosystem like Apple Watch, AirPods, MacBook and more. In conclusion, the iPhone 14 Plus is an amazing device for people looking for a “Plus” sized iPhone and don’t want to spend nearly Rs 1.5 lakh for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
