Samsung is reportedly planning to launch five foldable devices in 2027, according to new information from industry sources. The codenames for these upcoming models are B9, H9, Q9A, Q9B, and Z9. This follows earlier reports suggesting Samsung would release four foldables, including the Flip9, Fold9, Fold9 Ultra, and TriFold 2.
The codename B9 is believed to correspond to the Flip9, as the previous Flip model used the codename B8. This indicates that the Flip9 remains in Samsung's product plans. Similarly, H9 is expected to be the Fold9, following the pattern set by the Fold8, which used the codename H8.
The Q9A and Q9B codenames likely represent two different variations of a device. Industry sources suggest that one could be the Fold9 Ultra, while the other may be the TriFold 2. This would align with earlier reports about Samsung's intentions to expand its foldable lineup with new form factors and advanced models.
The Z9 codename stands out among the list. While details remain unclear, sources believe Z9 may refer to a device with a rollable display. The hardware is described as being more tablet-like than phone-like, according to a machine-translated statement from Dutch. This could indicate a shift toward larger, more versatile foldable or rollable devices in Samsung's future offerings.
Samsung Display has experience producing rollable screens for Lenovo laptops, which supports the possibility of a rollable smartphone or tablet. The company has not officially confirmed any details regarding the Z9 or its specifications. However, industry observers have anticipated the arrival of rollable phones for several years, and Samsung is considered a likely candidate to introduce such technology to the market.
Samsung continues to lead the foldable device market, regularly introducing new models and exploring innovative designs. The addition of a rollable device would mark a significant development in the industry, offering users more options for flexible displays and portable technology. As of now, the information is based on leaks and codenames, and further details are expected as the launch date approaches.
Consumers and industry analysts will be watching closely for official announcements and additional leaks regarding Samsung's 2027 foldable lineup. The company’s ongoing investments in display technology suggest that new form factors, including rollable devices, could soon become a reality.
