With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54, Samsung recently extended Its A-series portfolio. Both 5G Samsung smartphones come with incredible internal and external features, strengthening their position in a fiercely competitive segment, where Nothing and Google have already offered more capable smartphones for the customers.
Samsung Galaxy A34, at first glance, seems to be a prominent mid-range 5G smartphone and comes mated with a premium and handy design configuration. Interestingly, the smartphone offers many noticeable features, like a capable camera setup, a high-resolution display, and a powerful chipset. Further, this Samsung mobile has a 5,000mAh large-battery pack that supports 25W fast charging.
Though the phone seems to be a promising option and has capabilities to give direct competition to the likes of Nothing Phone 1, Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, Poco X5 Pro 5G, and Oppo Reno 8T, you might still be wondering whether you should be buying this latest smartphone from Samsung. Worry not; this Samsung Galaxy A34 review will discuss every detail of this latest smartphone, helping you decide if it's worth your investment.

Galaxy A34 has a similar design to Samsung’s recent flagship, Galaxy S23. This latest Samsung smartphone has a similar camera setup at the rear as you find in Samsung Galaxy S23, which completes with LED flash. Compared to previous models of the Galaxy A-series, the smartphone seems to be a little larger and heavier, even with a premium-grade plastic body.
Although, the drawback of this 5G smartphone in India is that it comes with a plastic back, which makes it a little slippery and prone to scratches. If you purchase this Samsung phone, it will be a great deal also to buy a back cover. Moreover, the smartphone seems a little thick, but the company has properly balanced it by maintaining a standard weight of 199 grams.
There are elegant and evenly placed camera cutouts to accommodate a triple-camera setup, giving a premium look and feel. Like other Samsung smartphones, it has volume and power buttons on the right-hand side. To provide a convenient user experience, the company has positioned the power button slightly lower side, making it ideal for one-handed use. Another feature our experts like is that Galaxy A34 has IP67 certification, meaning you don’t need to worry even if your phone is wet during heavy rain.
With a display size upgrade, Samsung Galaxy A34 is launched with a 6.6-inch full-HD+ high-resolution display, while the predecessors have a 6.4-inch display size. However, there is a slight decrease in resolution as it's now 1080x2340 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is now the industry standard in most mid-range smartphones. New Galaxy A34 also features an upgraded aspect ratio of 19:5:9, offering wide viewing angles.
Moreover, Samsung has also provided its Vision Booster technology that ensures the highest level of color contrast accuracy, while the 6.6-inch display has SGS certification, reducing blue-light emission to 6.5% to 12.5% for better eyecare. The phone packs an in-display fingerprint rear for biometric authentication. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection to keep the display scratch free.
Whether users play video games or watch Netflix shows, the display remains responsive and bright enough to show visuals with every detail. Moreover, the color production is above par and can offer vivid and bright colors.
Samsung Galaxy A34 can handle day-to-day tasks — whether streaming YouTube videos, playing games, watching Netflix, or browsing the web — without any issues or technical lags. Samsung has equipped this newest 5G smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 1080 Soc processor instead of Samsung’s Exynos CPU, which seems to be a strategic move to compete with Redmi Note 12 Pro as it also draws power from the same chipset.
The Dimensity 1080 Soc chipset in Galaxy A34 has eight cores; two are clocked at 2.6GHz Cortex-A78, while the remaining are clocked at 2.0GHz Cortex-A55. The smartphone also features a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU to facilitate graphic-oriented tasks. With the combination of this powerful CPU and GPU, Samsung’s new A-series mobile is capable of running intense mobile games like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and Asphalt 9 at high FPS and with no shutter. The touch experience also remains responsive, especially in the complex stages of the gaming modes.
The smartphone runs on Android 13-based One UI 5.1, which seems to be easier to use and has a variety of features, including dual apps for social media and multi-window options. Interestingly, Galaxy A34 comes with four years of Android OS and five years of security software support.
Samsung has introduced Galaxy A34 in primarily two variants: 8GB RAM with 128GB Internal Storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB internal Storage.
The company hasn’t made many upgrades in terms of camera setup. The Galaxy A34 continues to carry a similar camera module as seen on the A33 series. The phone has a triple camera at the rear side, including a 48-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 5-megapixel macro lens (which looks more capable than the 2-megapixel macro camera provided by other smartphone manufacturers), and a 13-megapixel selfie-camera. The camera setup of the all-new Galaxy A34 is very capable and captures normal to low-light images with high color contrast and proper detail.
The primary camera typically captures images at 12-megapixel, but the users can set it to 49-megapixel. Selfie cameras also work properly and maintain adequate sharpness and natural skin tone. For recording videos, the mobile can record 4K videos at 30 fps and slow-motion videos at 720p at 480 fps. Moreover, Samsung has provided an AI image enhancer; photo remaster, and several other features, allowing users to click stunning photos and record high-quality videos.
Samsung Galaxy A34 also packs the same 5,000mAh battery pack available in its predecessors. The battery can last up to 2 days on moderate use. However, if you play intense games like COD and Apex Legends or stream internet-intensive tasks for long hours, this configuration still provides a day of battery-life. With the 25W charger, the phone gets charged from 0% to 100% in about 90 minutes or 1.5 hours. Further, this Samsung mobile has dual stereo speakers, one on the bottom and another on the earpiece.
Galaxy A34 is a mid-range and capable smartphone for most users. Though the phone does not come with the fastest chipset, best selfie camera, or largest battery pack in the segment, Samsung Galaxy A34 still manages to remain competitive in its segment. From smooth and efficient Android 13-based One UI 5.1 to IP67 certification, 5G-connectivity, 25W fast charging support, capable Dimensity 1080 CPU, and Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, this A-series Smartphone from Samsung has capabilities to meet the expectations of buyers.
If you are looking to purchase a mid-range smartphone with a capable configuration that can handle almost everything you throw at, remain lag-free, last for years, and provide an efficient user experience, Samsung Galaxy A34 is the smartphone you need to purchase under this segment.
