Temple Device Features and Design

Temple is a small device that attaches to the side of the head, specifically between the forehead and the ear. This location, known as the temple, gives the device its name. The latest version of Temple is less than half the size of the earlier prototype. Goyal claims that, by volume, Temple is now the smallest wearable on the market. However, the company has not yet disclosed the exact dimensions or weight of the device.

Temple is intended for continuous, non-invasive monitoring. Unlike smartwatches that sit on the wrist, Temple’s placement allows it to access signals related to cerebral blood flow and oxygenation. The device aims to track physiological changes during activities such as exercise, sleep, stress, recovery, and periods of intense concentration. Athletes like PV Sindhu have already been seen using Temple during its experimental phase.

Biomarker Entropy and Data Tracking

One of Temple’s key features is its ability to track a biomarker called Entropy. According to Goyal, Entropy is only readable at the temple region of the head. It measures the real-time metabolic and sympathetic activity of the body, reflecting the effort the body uses at any given moment. Entropy changes with various activities, including sleep, stress, exercise, caffeine intake, food, meditation, and cold exposure.

The company has divided Entropy into two metrics: Resting Entropy and Max Entropy. Resting Entropy measures the body’s effort at rest, while Max Entropy shows the maximum effort the body can produce under stress. Lower Resting Entropy is considered better, indicating efficient body function at rest. Higher Max Entropy is also considered better, reflecting the body’s capacity during peak performance.

Launch Timeline and Pricing

Temple has completed early-access testing, with the first 100 devices distributed to founding users. Goyal has stated that pre-orders for the Limited Launch Edition will open soon, with shipments planned before the end of 2026. The final price has not been confirmed. Earlier reports suggested a price of around Rs 72,000, but Goyal later indicated a possible launch price of about $1,000, or roughly Rs 1 lakh.

Technical details about the device’s hardware and data collection methods have not been fully disclosed. The company continues to test and refine Temple ahead of its wider release.
