The free streaming of IPL matches on JioCinema has been a huge hit among cricket fans in India. The viewership of IPL matches on JioCinema has broken many records this year. The company’s decision to charge for its content has been a topic of discussion among users, and many are eagerly waiting to know more about the pricing strategy.
In an interview, Jyoti Deshpande, president of Reliance’s media and content business, revealed that the company plans to add more than 100 movies and TV series to its platform, which will help JioCinema to give tough competition to other popular OTT platforms such as Netflix and Walt Disney. However, users will have to pay a charge for this. Jyoti added that the company plans to finalize the pricing strategy before the IPL season ends on May 28.
Reliance plans to make the pricing strategy for JioCinema convenient for its users. At present, JioCinema mostly features Western content, and the company plans to add more Indian content to its platform. Reliance understands that the prices of OTT plans in India are very sensitive, and thus they are focusing on providing maximum Indian content to the users.
Overall, the move to monetize JioCinema will help Reliance to improve its streaming services and provide its users with a better experience. While it may disappoint some users who have been enjoying free entertainment on JioCinema, the addition of new content and a focus on Indian content may attract new users who are willing to pay for a quality streaming service.
