Apple Expands Supplier Training Programmes in India

Apple has announced an expansion of its skill-building and workforce development initiatives for employees working across its supplier network. The move is part of the company’s broader effort to support long-term career growth in regions where it has a strong manufacturing presence, including India.

New Apple Education Hub Launched With MAHE

As part of this expansion, Apple has launched a new education hub in India in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The hub will start offering structured training programmes from March and will serve as a learning space where employees and trainers can engage directly with educators specialising in digital literacy and Swift coding.

Courses Focus on Digital, Robotics, and Manufacturing Skills

The new programmes will cover a wide range of technical skills, including digital literacy, Swift programming, robotics, automation technology, and smart manufacturing. Apple says these courses are designed to help supplier employees build capabilities beyond their everyday factory roles and explore new career paths.

Training Rollout Across Apple Supplier Sites

Faculty members from MAHE will train supplier instructors, who will then conduct sessions for larger groups of workers. The programme will begin with Tata Electronics and gradually expand to more than 25 Apple supplier sites across India, reaching thousands of employees.

Backed by Apple’s Supplier Employee Development Fund

The expanded courses are supported by Apple’s global $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund. With this update, Apple and its partners now offer over 75 training courses for supplier employees in India. The company also plans to expand its robotics training programme, first introduced in December 2024, by qualifying factory educators to deliver customised sessions at their own facilities.
