Apple has announced several new features for its App Store at the Worldwide Developers Conference. The most notable is Personalized Collections, which delivers app and game recommendations tailored to individual users. These recommendations are based on user interests and app usage patterns. Personalized Collections will include App Notes that explain the reasons behind each recommendation.

Key Highlights

  • Apple announces Personalized Collections for tailored app and game recommendations on the App Store.
  • Feature will roll out in English in the US this week with more regions to follow.
  • Developers can propose in-game offers and use new tools for group subscriptions and app bundles.

The new feature will appear on the Apps, Games, and Search tabs within the App Store. Recommendations will update over time as users download and use different apps. Apple will begin rolling out Personalized Collections this week in English in the United States. The company plans to expand support to more languages and regions soon.

New Tools for Developers

Apple is introducing additional tools for game developers and app creators. Game developers can now use Featuring Nominations to propose special in-game offers or limited-time discounts. These proposals go to the App Store editorial team for consideration. The goal is to help developers attract and engage players through the Apple Games app.

Later this year, developers will gain new options to showcase their apps on the App Store. They will be able to add rich images and videos to the product page header and search results. This aims to give users a better preview of apps before downloading.

Expanded Subscription and Bundle Options

Apple will allow developers to enable subscriptions for groups and organizations. Two new options will help build multi-user in-app purchase experiences. Group purchases will let a subscriber buy multiple subscriptions in a single transaction and invite others to access them. Apple will manage the invitation process to ensure a seamless experience.

Additionally, App Store Bundles will let developers partner together to offer users combined app packages. These bundles aim to provide more value to users by offering multiple apps for a lower total price.

Apple states that these updates are designed to enhance user experience and give developers more ways to reach and retain customers. The company has not specified exact dates for the global rollout of these features but says they are coming soon.
