In response to the comparison, Carl Pei stated that he found it strange that the Nothing Phone (1) was being compared to the Pixel 6a, as the phones have different positioning and value propositions. Pei claimed that the Pixel 6a is an entry-level smartphone, while the Phone (1) is Nothing's flagship device. He also stated that the bill of materials cost to build the Phone (1) is significantly higher than the Pixel 6a.
Pei then listed some advantages of the Phone (1) over the Pixel 6a, including symmetrical bezels around the screen, Gorilla Glass 5, a better processor for faster performance, better camera hardware, a 120Hz display refresh rate for smoother scrolling, a bigger screen for better media consumption, Nothing OS (which Pei personally prefers), and faster wired charging and support for wireless charging (which is not available on the Pixel 6a
