Cursor, an AI-assisted software development platform, has launched its first native iOS app for iPhone and iPad. This move follows the company's recent acquisition by SpaceX in a $60 billion all-stock deal. The new app allows developers to start, manage, and review coding tasks directly from their mobile devices, expanding access beyond desktop computers.

Key Highlights

  • Cursor launches its first native iOS app for iPhone and iPad in public beta.
  • Developers can start, manage, and review coding tasks directly from mobile devices.
  • Remote Control feature allows interaction with desktop coding agents from phones.
  • Live Activities and push notifications provide real-time updates on coding progress.

Cursor iOS App Features

The Cursor app for iOS is now available in public beta for all paid subscribers. Developers can use the app to launch AI coding agents, monitor their progress, and complete software development tasks from anywhere. The app experience closely matches Cursor's desktop application, supporting both iPhone and iPad devices.

Users can open the app, select a repository, choose from supported AI models, and describe the coding task they want the agent to perform. The app supports voice input, enabling users to dictate prompts, and includes slash commands for additional instructions. Cursor has also introduced a Remote Control feature, allowing users to interact with coding agents running on their computers from their phones.

To ensure continuous access, the app offers an option to keep a computer awake while users are away. Developers can monitor live progress through Live Activities on the iPhone lock screen and receive push notifications when agents complete tasks, need input, or have work ready for review.

Workflow Enhancements and Use Cases

Cursor designed the mobile app for situations where developers need to respond quickly. Tasks such as reproducing bugs, reviewing code, or continuing work on fixes can now be handled directly from a phone. Developers can also convert feedback from platforms like X into development tasks by taking screenshots, annotating them, and sending them to an AI agent as visual context.

Inside the app, users can inspect code changes, view screenshots, check logs, and review demos before approving or merging pull requests. The company aims to make cloud-based AI agents feel as seamless as working locally. Cursor is also developing repo-less chat capabilities for tasks that do not require codebase access.

The iOS app is available in public beta, with a limited-time 75 percent discount on Composer 2.5 runs until July 5. This launch marks a significant step in Anysphere's goal to make AI coding agents accessible from any device, following its integration into SpaceX's xAI subsidiary.
