Samsung’s wide foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold8 has been a pleasant surprise since it launched in July. According to a Korean tipster who cites sources at Samsung’s display suppliers, sales have beaten the company’s own expectations. That early success has Samsung thinking about widening its wide foldable lineup next year, with two new models reportedly under evaluation and a final call expected soon.

Samsung hasn’t broken out sales for the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra individually, though it did share combined figures for both models last year. With the Fold8 Ultra now on shelves, the push for another wide foldable looks like a response to growing interest in this category.
The final specs and features of the next wide foldable are still up in the air. Samsung is expected to announce which model it’s going with before long, as it keeps building out its presence in the foldable market.
