Google has launched its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature in India. This feature, first introduced in the US, aims to make the AI assistant more helpful by connecting to various Google apps. Gemini can access information from services like Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search to answer user questions more accurately and assist with daily tasks.
Personal Intelligence works by linking information from multiple Google apps. This allows Gemini to understand user activities and preferences. The feature has two main strengths. It can reason across different sources and retrieve specific details from connected apps to answer questions.
For example, if a user asks, ‘What are my travel plans for Jaipur?’, Gemini can check booking confirmations in Gmail and organize them into a timeline. It can also retrieve related screenshots or saved photos from Google Photos. If a user recently watched a YouTube video about local food trends, Gemini may suggest a restaurant based on that viewing history.
Gemini also tries to show where information comes from, so users can verify the sources. If an answer is incorrect, users can correct it by providing new information, such as stating a preference for window seats.
Google emphasizes privacy in the design of Personal Intelligence. The feature is turned off by default. Users must choose which apps Gemini can access. Google states that the AI does not directly train on data from Gmail or Photos.
Personal Intelligence is rolling out to eligible personal Google accounts in India. It is available for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. Google plans to expand the feature to free users in the coming weeks. Once available, it will work across the web, Android, and iOS. The feature supports all models in the Gemini model picker.
The launch of Gemini Personal Intelligence in India follows its earlier introduction in the US. Google aims to improve the usefulness of its AI assistant by integrating it more deeply with user data, while maintaining privacy controls. The company continues to expand AI features to more users and platforms.
