Google Tests Android Theft Detection Lock Feature

Google is testing new security features, including theft detection lock, remote lock, and offline device lock, first available in Brazil. Users can sign up via a form to participate in the beta testing. The theft detection lock uses sensors and AI to identify and lock a phone if stolen, while the offline device lock cuts off internet access. The remote lock allows users to lock and wipe data remotely. These features aim to prevent unauthorized access, factory resets, and reselling of stolen devices. Google plans a broader rollout and is enhancing security with upcoming features like a private space for Android 15.
