Live Flight Updates Now Available

Users who have added a boarding pass to Google Wallet will now see live flight updates. Previously, Google Wallet sent notifications about boarding times and gate changes. It also used Gmail integration to remind users to check in if they had not added a boarding pass for a flight found in their emails.

With the new feature, Android 16 users receive a persistent notification before takeoff. This notification displays the estimated time of arrival and a progress bar. The progress bar shows the total flight duration and how much of the journey has passed.

How the Feature Works

The persistent notification becomes active shortly before the flight's departure. It remains on the home screen, allowing travellers to monitor their flight status without opening any apps. Tapping the notification brings up the ticket page in Google Wallet. At the bottom of this page, there is a link to Google Flights. Selecting this link opens a web search result for the flight.

This update aims to streamline the travel experience for Android users. By providing live updates and easy access to flight details, Google Wallet helps travellers stay informed throughout their journey.
