Honor has announced the official launch date for its Robot Phone. The company will unveil the device at the "Imaging Technology Launch Event" in partnership with Arri. The event will take place in China on August 12. Reservations for the Robot Phone opened earlier this month in the country.
Honor has not released detailed specifications yet. However, recent leaks provide insight into the device's hardware. The Robot Phone is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It will likely include a 6,000mAh battery, supporting extended usage.
The camera system is a major highlight. The main camera is tipped to offer 200 megapixels and comes with a robotic arm gimbal. The device may also include a 200MP periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide camera. These features suggest a strong focus on imaging technology.
An unboxing video of the Honor Robot Phone has surfaced on Weibo. The video reveals the phone's packaging and the large rear camera module. The gimbal, attached to a robotic arm, is positioned on the left side of the module. The right side houses the other cameras and an LED flash.
The robotic arm gimbal sits flush with the phone's body when not in use and is protected by a cover. The video also shows an animation in the camera app when the gimbal is activated. This demonstrates the integration of hardware and software for camera stabilization.
Besides the phone, the box contains a protective case, a charging cable, and a 120W charger. These accessories indicate support for fast charging and device protection.
The "Imaging Technology Launch Event" will mark the official debut of the Honor Robot Phone. The event is a collaboration between Honor and Arri, highlighting the phone's focus on advanced imaging. The device will be available for reservation and purchase in China following the launch.
