Huawei has introduced the FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition earbuds and the MatePad Air (2026) tablet at its recent event in Malaysia. These new devices are refreshed versions of existing products, offering updated features rather than complete generational upgrades.

Key Highlights

  • Huawei launches FreeClip 2 S earbuds and MatePad Air (2026) in Malaysia.
  • FreeClip 2 S offers up to 9 hours playback and 38 hours with case.
  • New Adaptive Volume algorithm adjusts sound based on environment.
  • MatePad Air (2026) features PaperMatte OLED display and slimmer design.

FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition Details

The FreeClip 2 S earbuds maintain their dual-diaphragm drivers and three microphones for noise cancellation. Users can expect up to 9 hours of playback on a single charge, with a total of 38 hours when using the charging case.

The main update is the Adaptive Volume algorithm, powered by Huawei's third-generation audio chip and a dedicated NPU for AI processing. This technology enables real-time awareness, allowing the earbuds to adjust volume and voice levels during calls based on ambient noise. This feature is especially useful for open earbuds like the FreeClip 2 S, which lack passive noise isolation.

Huawei has introduced new color options for the FreeClip 2 S: Deepsea Blue and Space Silver. The earbuds can also be customized with clip-on accessories designed by French jewelry house Les Néréides. The charging case is now slightly larger to accommodate these accessory clip-ons.

The FreeClip 2 S will be available for £169 from July 14 to August 17. After this period, the price will be £199. A limited-edition bundle, including a pair of Les Néréides clip-ons, will also be offered at £199.

MatePad Air (2026) Key Features

The MatePad Air (2026) introduces several updates over its predecessor. The most significant change is the adoption of a PaperMatte OLED display, similar to the one used in the MatePad Pro series. This is the first time the MatePad Air lineup features this type of display, which includes a matte coating for improved productivity and reading comfort. This marks a notable improvement from the previous LCD panels.

Design enhancements include thinner bezels, a slimmer profile, and new color options. The tablet also supports new Pro-level AI features, enabled by an unspecified flagship system-on-chip (SoC).

Availability and Pricing

Huawei will offer the FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition at an introductory price of £169 between July 14 and August 17. After this period, the standard price will be £199. The limited-edition bundle with Les Néréides clip-ons will also be available for £199. Details on the MatePad Air (2026) pricing and availability were not specified at the event.
