The report also suggests that despite all segments except government, there was a decline that grew a staggering 91.5% year-on-year. It was 10,000 units. Desktop and workstation categories grew 23.4% and 17.6% respectively, while notebook shipments fell 19.5%.
“With schools and colleges opening, the consumer segment is seeing tapering demand for the past few months as demand for remote learning has come to a standstill. Weakened currency is resulting in rising device costs and pricing pressure for vendors. As the online sales were going on, vendors delayed price increases in Q3, but the discounts weren’t as lucrative as in previous years either. Vendors are expected to increase prices in Q4, which might further dampen sentiment”, Bharath Shenoy, Senior Market Analyst, PC Devices, IDC India said in a press statement.
HP Inc. maintained its top position, shipping over 940,000 units and continued to drive sales across the Indian PC market, accounting for 23.9% of the total market share. However, the company's consumer and commercial shares fell to 22.1% and 25.9%, respectively.
Lenovo grabbed an 18.8% market share in the consumer segment, overtaking Dell to put it in second place. Dell Technologies dropped to third place, but in the consumer segment, it maintained its second position. However, it is very close to HP in the commercial segment.
The fourth position is still occupied by Acer Group, with 10.9% of the total market share. The company led the commercial desktop segment, growing 28.2% in the commercial segment and gaining a 31.3% share by fulfilling multiple corporate and government contracts. Asus managed to remain among the top five PC vendors with a 9.9% share, up 1% from Q3 2021.
