Instagram has introduced short selfie videos in DMs, offering a new visual experience

Instagram has introduced Notes, a new tool that lets users submit brief text updates. Selfie videos that loop will soon be included in the function, giving user interactions a more intimate level of personal expression.

In Adam Mosseri's demo, auto-playing videos at the top of messages are part of a dynamic direct message area. Because of how popular the Notes function is, it's possible that users will come up with creative ways to use this new tool, which will spice up talks. Users can expect engaging content in direct messages.

Since Reels are now the most popular video uploading option on Instagram, the platform has recently welcomed short films, showcasing them in stories and direct messages (DMs).

Instagram is exploring the ability for users to change their default profile photo with a brief, looping video by submitting selfie videos to Notes. Users can text each other to exchange ideas. Instagram is looking for user comments on this creative method of adding dynamic, looping videos to personalize Notes.

While under testing, the video selfie feature will enable users to shoot movies straight from the notes area and share them with contacts. When it becomes accessible, users will notice a camera icon on their profile photo when submitting notes.
