According to a source, who has previously proven to be trustworthy when discussing Apple-related matters, claims that iOS 17 won't have any significant visual updates. In fact, you should pretty well anticipate that it will resemble iOS 16 in appearance. The emphasis will instead be on improving stability and efficiency and supporting Apple's Reality Pro AR/VR headset with the upcoming version.

To that purpose, a fresh, special app for the headgear will be included in iOS 17. According to reports, this will have "much more functions" than the Watch app but a similar premise. The Home app appears to be getting a makeover, with "significant improvements" in the works as well as more subtle-sounding "tweaks" to Find My.

There will apparently be some navigational tweaks made to the Music app as well. Reminders and Files will be improved, but it's unclear how, and the Mail app will be "a little" simpler. It seems that you may also anticipate some small adjustments to the Wallet and Fitness apps, the latter of which might be integrated with Apple Pay Later.

iOS 17

According to appearances, iOS 17 is designed to run on six Dynamic Island-enabled smartphones, including the two already on the market, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. So it appears that the Dynamic Island will be present on all four of the next iPhone 15 models, ultimately doing away with the notch.

All four of the future iPhones will feature a USB-C port, but only two of them, likely the Pro and Pro Max, will handle USB 3.2 speeds, according to other sections of the iOS 17 code. The speeds received by non-Pro handsets will be the same as what they currently receive via Lightning.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is also rumoured to have a more powerful photo processing software and better cooling system than the iPhone 15 Pro (which is probably made possible, at least in part, by the phone being physically bigger).
