iPhone 17 Series, likely to be introduced by the second half of this year, will feature more RAM compared to the existing iPhone 16 lineup. The upcoming iPhone series will include base, Air, Pro, and Pro Max variants. A tipster on social media claimed that the purported iPhone smartphones will support 12GB of RAM, a major upgrade from 8GB of RAM in current models. The tipster has also claimed that the upcoming iPhone 18 series will arrive with memory improvements.

iPhone 17 Series, iPhone 18 Series RAM Details

According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming iPhone 17 smartphones will have 12GB RAM support and also expected to have Apple Intelligence and other AI-backed tools on a large scale. The larger RAM size is said to improve the performance of these features.

The Pro variants of the lineup, including iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, are anticipated to be equipped with A19 Pro chipset, likely to be made on TSMC’s 3nm process. It will be paired with 12GB RAM, and the performance of this chipset will improve significantly over the A18 Pro SoC. In current offerings, including iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, Apple offers 8GB of RAM.

The tipster added that the iPhone 18 series, which is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026, will support six-channel LPDDR5X memory, which is upgraded to enhance the performance of purported smartphones.

The new claim came after TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple was considering shipping the standard iPhone 17 phones with 12GB RAM support, the same as other phones in the lineup. Kuo also stated that all models in the iPhone 18 lineup will likely feature 12GB of RAM.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch later this year. According to a recent industry report, at least one of the variants of the iPhone 17 has cleared the Engineering Validation Testing (EVT) phase, highlighting the smartphone hardware performance delivery has matched the expected levels. The handset is also expected to pass the Design Validation Test (DVT) and Production Validation Test (PVT) stages before mass production. These routine tests and the timeline indicate that the iPhone 17 series can debut around September this year.
