Facebook's parent company, Meta, is well known for offering highly-paying jobs to developers. According to recent data from Blind, engineers at Meta and Google made more money than their counterparts at other tech firms in August of this year. However, not everyone bases their decisions about their careers solely on the prospect of earning a significant salary.

A former Meta employee who was earning a respectable yearly income of about Rs 3 crore made a huge career change by leaving his well-paid profession. He openly admitted that the position wasn't a good fit for him, despite the financial benefits. The person said that the atmosphere at Meta had a negative impact on his health and caused panic attacks. Additionally, he found it difficult to switch off from work even after his regular working hours were over.

Software engineer Eric Yu, 28, revealed to Business Insider that his everyday schedule at Meta started at 7:00 am and ended at 5:00 pm. Disconnection, however, remained a problem even outside of business hours. He mentioned that he occasionally worked on the weekends and that his efforts were harshly criticised. As time went on, the tension started to take a toll and resulted in panic episodes while working. He made the decision to leave his highly-compensated position as the situation progressively got worse.

The software genius recalled his initial panic episode, which occurred in November 2019 when he was working at home. His account of the incident began, "Around four, my left pinky completely became numb. I initially ignored it, but after an hour, my mind began to buzz and my heart started to beat quickly. He initially wrote it off as a rare occurrence, but with time, these anxiety episodes painfully became more frequent.

Eric Yu suffered a terrible particular extremity for six months, from March to September 2020."Every day felt like a grind. I did not know what I was doing or why I was still working," he reflected on this tough time. The fact that I made it difficult for myself to focus on my coding or meet deadlines caused my performance to start to decline. He had sensitive months that had an impact on both his career and overall health.

Eric Yu admitted that the foe working atmosphere at Meta during the time he worked there had been made worse by the condescending feedback from several elderly formulators. But when his director questioned the depth of his contributions, despite his case sweats and long hours that sometimes indeed included weekends, that was the turning point that ultimately caused his leave. He framed the life- changing choice to leave the association as a result of this vital event.

Eric Yu had an extensive view of the worth of capabilities that went beyond law volume. He allowed that experience like managing systems, resolving interpersonal conflicts, and serving as a tutor should also be valued. His director, however, had a different opinion, and speaking with him was a turning point in his decision to cut ties with Meta.

Eric chose a different route and entered the world of real estate despite earning a respectable USD 370,000 a time at Meta. He was apprehensive that leaving such an economic job might appear" crazy" to some, but he was adamant in his conviction that it was the stylish move for his happiness and particular fulfillment.
