Muralikrishnan B. resigns as Xiaomi India President

Xiaomi India President, Muralikrishnan B, has announced his resignation from the firm, effective by the end of this year. The executive, who joined Xiaomi India in 2018 and was elevated to the role of president in 2022, will step down to pursue an Executive Doctorate in Management, focusing on Consumer Behaviour on Technology Platforms.

During his tenure, Muralikrishnan played a pivotal role in expanding Xiaomi's presence in India, contributing to its growth across multiple areas. Notably, he was instrumental in expanding the company's offline retail network and forging a key partnership with Dixon Technologies in 2023 to manufacture smartphones locally.

Muralikrishnan also led the company through challenging times, including scrutiny from Indian government agencies over alleged illegal financial transactions in 2022, which involved investigations by the Enforcement Directorate.

Despite stepping down from his leadership position, Muralikrishnan will continue his association with the company as an independent strategic advisor, providing his expertise to guide Xiaomi's future direction in India.

In the wake of his departure, Sudhin Mathur, Xiaomi India’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), will oversee operations in India, with support from other senior executives including CFO Sameer Rao, CPO Varun Madan, and CMO Anuj Sharma.

Muralikrishnan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Xiaomi India, noting his pride in the team's accomplishments and the company's success in such a dynamic market. He also thanked Xiaomi's leadership and partners for their support during his tenure.
