So if you are living in any of the aforementioned cities, you will get a notification on your My Jio app, which will include details about the welcome offer and steps on how to avail of it. If you are unable to connect to 5G even after receiving the notification, here are the steps to activate Jio 5G network on your phone.

- Go to your phone's 'Settings'

- Find and select 'Mobile network' or a similar option.

- Next, select the Jio SIM and then select the 'Preferred network type' option.

- You will see options including 3G,4G and 5G. select 5G.

After selecting the 5G network, you will see the 5G symbol on your status bar. After that, you can experience the 5G speeds in the areas covered by the network.

Do you need a new SIM?

Both, Airtel and Jio have confirmed that users will not require to get new SIM to use their 5G services. Existing 4G SIMs from the telecoms will be able to access the network once it is available.
