Some recent rumours indicate that the S23 series will launch earlier this year. The launch will be through the Unpacked event in San Francisco. Historically, the company released its flagship phones a few weeks after launch. If that's all there is to it, the Galaxy S23 series could launch on February 17.
Reports say Samsung usually launches the Galaxy S series in March, but the market is facing stiff competition, which has forced Samsung to push forward its release window to February.
Like Apple, Samsung follows its three-year design refresh cycle. Hence it is safe to say that the new phones will more or less use the same design seen with the S22 series. However, Ice Universe has confirmed that the Galaxy S23 may have thicker bezels. It's not clear why Samsung stepped back in design, but we're hoping it has something to do with increased durability.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series could rely primarily on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for processing needs, according to the report. Though there are no concrete rumours Samsung is expected to sell its Exynos variant flagships in some smaller markets.
Meanwhile, the top model, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, will have a 200 MP sensor developed by Samsung. The new camera will literally have doable the pixels of its predecessors. While the Samsung S23 Ultra is expected to come with a 200 MP primary camera, Ice Universe suggests, it will not be the HP3 sensor. So if Ultra still comes with a 200 MP camera, it will feature the ISOCELL HP2. With the use of the HP2 sensor, the S23 Ultra will bring significant improvements in low light photography.
Meanwhile, according to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus could come preloaded with a 12-megapixel unit for selfies. This should be an improvement from the 10-megapixel unit on last year's model. Other departments could be better, but the rest of the cameras are likely to have the same resolution.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Club was able to get hold of several battery model numbers along with nominal capacities. According to a Dutch publication, the EB-BS916ABY in the Galaxy S23 Plus has a nominal capacity of 4,565mAh, which Samsung may market as 4,700mAh. The battery size is right in between the smaller Galaxy S22 and the larger S21. The EB-BS918ABY in the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a nominal capacity of 4,855 mAh and a standard capacity of 5,000 mAh.
This information is yet to be confirmed by Samsung, so it is advanced to take the information with a pinch of salt.
