Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Series Gets 2.71 Lakh Pre-Orders in 72 Hours

Samsung’s new foldable series is creating a lot of buzz among customers. Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 in India on 22 July. The company said the three smartphones received over 2,71,000 pre-orders in the first 72 hours of their launch.

Last year's Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 took around 15 days to get to the same amount of pre-orders, interestingly. This means Samsung’s latest foldable lineup has broken the previous record at a much faster pace. Samsung has been honing its foldable series with each generation, and the latest lineup is a big way to combine design and tech. 

Tier-2 cities deliver a major response

Samsung said nearly 45% of total pre-orders came from Tier-2 cities and smaller towns. It clearly shows that foldable phones are not confined to Tier 1 metro markets like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru anymore.

Premium smartphones with newer technologies are also increasingly being taken up by consumers in smaller cities. Samsung said the strong response indicates foldable technology is gradually gaining more mainstream acceptance among Indian consumers. 

How much do the smartphones cost?

The Galaxy Z Flip8 starts at Rs 1,24,999, and the Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at Rs 1,79,999. The most premium model, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at Rs 1,99,999. 

Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra features

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra sports a folded passport-like design, an 8.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, Flex Titanium technology and a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung states that the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the lightest foldable smartphone in the world, with a weight of 201 grams and a cover display with an aspect ratio of 10:16. Both models come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and support 45W fast charging and wireless charging. The Fold8 Ultra features a 200MP primary camera, while the Fold8 has a 50MP camera anda  4,800mAh battery.
