Samsung is currently leading the foldable smartphone market as it produces foldable smartphones and designs, develops, and manufactures foldable screens. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, the company demonstrated various kinds of foldable displays, some of which are expected to be available in the near future.

Here is all the new form factors showcased by Samsung:

Samsung Flex S

Samsung Flex S

The Samsung Flex S is a foldable screen that can bend twice, forming an S shape when folded inward or outward. This technology is expected to be used on small smartphones that can offer a larger screen when unfolded. The device, with the Samsung Flex S, can be as compact as a Galaxy Z Flip 4 when folded, yet provide a tablet-like display when unfolded. Moreover, this multi-part display is anticipated to enhance the multi-tasking experience, particularly for people who are always on the move.

The Flex S allows users to access part of the screen even when the device is completely folded, thanks to its inward and outward folding options. This feature could eliminate the need for a dedicated cover display like those on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 or the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Samsung Flex G

The Samsung Flex G is similar to the Flex S, with the key difference being that it only folds inward to create a G shape. When folded, the screen is fully protected, unlike the Flex S, which always leaves one side exposed. The Flex G is ideal for compact tablets, and designers can create products where opening only one side of the device will activate a portion of the screen for improved productivity and reduced power consumption.

Samsung Flex Note

The Samsung Flex Note is a display designed for use in foldable laptops, similar to the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold OLED. When opened, a device with a Flex Note display will provide a larger working area, with the second half of the screen doubling as a keyboard or allowing for the use of two applications simultaneously. This technology is likely to be featured in upcoming folding laptops.
